This Is Not an NFT Art Fair

This computer game presents a speculative NFT art fair in a virtual world. The setting assumes a future where NFTs have become embedded in art, so that players can see the potential implications of using them and then decide for themselves whether or not they support the technology.

NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are effectively deeds that verify ownership over a digital file. They have become explosively popular over the course of the pandemic. NFTs are highly controversial for a number of reasons. Yet, as more brands come out with NFTs, a future where they are ubiquitous seems more likely.

Currently the game is only available on Windows, but a Mac build is coming soon. The game was made as my capstone project for graduating from design school.

How to Install the Game

Instructions for Windows

1. Download the folder containing the game files ("ThisIsNotanNFTArtFair-Download.zip") below

2. Once downloaded, extract the zipped file containing the game by right-clicking and selecting "Extract All"

3. Once the folder has been extracted, navigate to the unzipped file containing the game. Click to open the folder

4. Click on the folder "WindowsNoEditor" to open it

5. Click on the application "NotanNFTArtFair" to start playing the game (the file should have a blue monkey icon ) 

Note: If you do not have an administrator account on your laptop, right-click and select "Run as administrator" and enter the password to start the game. Otherwise, the videos in the game will not display correctly.
